Fried chicken is one of my families favorite meals, in fact, they drive me crazy about making it! It’s a crowd pleaser, to say the least. This recipe is my mothers and I have found by making it throughout the years that it is a VERY messy process but I can guarantee it’s so worth the mess!
Ingredients
- 1 Organic chicken
- 3 Eggs
- 2 Cups of flour
- 2 Cups of Buttermilk
- Salt
- Pepper
- 3 Tablespoons of Butter
- 1 1/2 Cups of Vegetable oil
Instructions
Cut a chicken into 8 pieces
Wash and place on a paper towel and pat dry
Season with salt and pepper
Beat eggs and add Buttermilk
Place flour in a bowl
Heat oil and add butter to the pan
Place chicken in the egg wash and than the flour
When oil is hot put the chicken in the frying pan and cook until the crust is golden brown
Bake chicken in a pyrex baking pan for 45 min until chicken is done
Remove chicken from the pan immediately to prevent it from getting soggy
Notes
Tip: Only keep the chicken in the oil until it's brown. Finish the cooking process by moving it into a pan and placing it in the oven. Baking it will keep the calories a little lower and the mess a little less!
